ATTENTION: Women who want to get paid what they deserve

The Art To Getting Paid What You're Worth

Nego”she”ation – the art to the ask!

I have spent decades as both a trial attorney and international corporate counsel and have negotiated countless agreements – for my clients and for myself.

Like writing a personal bio with glowing achievements, I find that selling myself can be far tougher than the hard nose negotiator I am for my clients.

I’m not alone - it’s often easier for women to negotiate on behalf of others rather than ourselves.

We do a darn good job of being in a caretaking role, interested in the welfare of our families and co-workers.

So, why is it so hard to ask for more for ourselves?

You would not purchase a car without researching and bargaining for the best price, so why cave when it comes to negotiating your own price?

Yet, two out of three women do not ask for anything in the employment negotiation process...

Which equates to millions of dollars in lost revenue over a lifetime for women who did not at least try.

Know what you are worth!

The failure of candidates to negotiate as an advocate for themselves is a clear indication to employers that:

ONE: They show a lack of self-preservation and self-worth not to mention a lack of creativity, spunk and leadership skills.

AND...

TWO: It is likely that the candidate won’t watch out for the company’s budgets, contract terms or employee welfare programs either!

Like everything else, there is an art to the ask, a right time, necessary research and preparation.

In an effort to lend you a hand, I have prepared a “Nego”she”ation Checklist” with items for you to consider.

Hello, I'm Linda.

I'm a business attorney with a history of C-suite roles in multinational companies.

Throughout the years I have also been deeply involved in the world of social impact.

I am committed to helping women understand the importance of their unique gifts and talents to a world in need of their amazing contributions!

This brings me joy.

This checklist will provide...

  • Resources to help you evaluate your financial worth
  • Items you should consider in the process of deciding if an offer is good for you
  • Ways to show up during negotiations
  • Sources to determine whether the company that is making the offer has the same values as you
I want to make sure that we are all gainfully employed in jobs that we both deserve and love sooner rather than later!

To do that, we need to be clear about the things that are important to us and then ask for them, to find companies that appreciate everything that we bring to the table.

Don't settle for 'good enough'.

The first step to becoming an excellent negotiator is deciding to negotiate in the first place.

When you take the steps to negotiate in way that makes you confident and, the others around you comfortable, you increase your chances of success.

We all know there’s a direct relationship between goals and end result. The higher your goals are, the better the outcome. Ask for more and you’ll get more. It’s that simple.
